We teach what we need to learn. The plumber’s own pipes are always broken. The accountant who’s always overdrafting at the bank. We have dozens of ways of saying the same thing…that what we study, preach, or do for a living is often the thing that’s broken in our own lives. Those of us who realize that can either feel shame and guilt, or see if from another vantage point: We are the trail leaders, the teachers, and the ones most invested in our craft.
